iPhone Fever

When my phone decided to no longer be functional just weeks before the Offshore Technology Conference, I decided to go ahead and purchase the new iPhone 5. I’ve had my eye on it since I went to Rwanda. My friends who were taking pictures with their iP5’s were just as good (if not better) than my fancy pants camera.

It’s been 10 days and I absolutely LOVE this phone!  Best purchase since my MAC computer and my iPod.  Hands down.  It even beats the new Buble album.  But only by a little.

I also decided that for the first time in my own personal cellular history, I would spend a little extra cash and get a super cute case for it.

Cute Cover

HOW DARLING IS THAT?  Isn’t my monogram fabulous?  Don’t you love the red and turquoise?

Cracked

Of course, the case is only for looks. Clearly it’s not functional.

And it doesn’t feel as cute in the plastic baggie I currently carry it around in so I can text and email without getting shards of glass in my fingers, but sometimes you have to sacrifice fashion for safety.

If you bought it with a credit card, check your terms and conditions. Some cards have purchase protection that will replace or fix items if damaged shortly after purchase. I heard about it in this article.

Use clear packing tape. Smooth a layer over the screen. It will still respond to touch, and the shards remain in place.

Or spend $50 on an Otterbox Defender cass and you can practically drop your phone off the roof of your house safely.

So here’s the bummer…Eliza cracked her screen too. Because it’s “so new” it’s pretty much the same price to replace the glass or buy “another” new phone. We are making her live with the cracked face. Yup. we’re that mean.
You, have income…she, does not.
Hang in there!

See if you have a local repair person. I had someone come replace my cracked screen for $75…good as new. way better than taking it to the apple store for $250.00

I just got my Iphone5 last week to replace my ancient flip phone! I’m so behind on the learning curve of phones!
If you want yours repaired my son works for a CA company called ICracked, google it. They will send you the repair kit, or you can send your phone to them, or they might even have a rep in your town. Honestly, it’s legit!

Lincee….I have an iPhone 4s and the first thing I did was buy an Otter box case…they are indestructible and even though the don’t have the cute designs on the back it’s way better to save the phone than have something fancy. I hope you can get it fixed soon and get a better case.

Those monogrammed cases have a “bumper” that you can buy for them too – will help with the screen protection. There’s a place in Houston that will fix your screen for $99, if you don’t have the Apple care.

My daughter has broken many a screen. She always returns it to the Apple Store and they have replaced her phone for free. No lie.

My son dropped his ipod and cracked it up pretty bad. We got a replacement through the place listed on this blog. It took about an hour to replace it ourselves, but we did it. We had to look up a You Tube tutorial for help, also. But, it saved a little $$ and looks great now!

I got an iphone 4s last summer (my first iphone) and had an otterbox on it all year. In March I decided since I NEVER drop my phone (and my kids are so careful), that I would get a super cute monogrammed chevron case. Less than a month later – tripped in the rain and killed my screen. Thank goodness for AppleCare. And after this post, I know believe the cute chevron cases are cursed…
