I Hate Green Beans Podcast 14: Arie is the New Bachelor
When I heard the news about Arie being the new Bachelor, I immediately texted all my friends with a simple statement that read:
“I FULLY SUPPORT THIS DECISION.”
Some members of Bachelor Nation do not agree with me. Others are completely in my camp. They know I know what I’m talking about due to the fact that I have shoved this YouTube clip down their throats at least once a season for the past five years.
Sometimes I just watch it for fun. That’s not weird. When you write about The Bachelor for a living, it’s called research.
Some Guy in Austin and I have many thoughts about Arie and this out of the blue announcement. I even read some of your reactions on Twitter and Facebook! It’s so much fun.

You know what’s funny? I didn’t watch Emily’s season of the ‘Ette (I think it’s the only season I missed of that part of the franchise), and as SOON as they announced Arie, I was like, “OMG, that’s the freaking amazing wall kisser that Lincee always posts about.” I’m IN. Hahahaha 🙂
Same Karen S, I’ve seen the video on Lincee’s blog but didn’t watch that season. Finally some real romance!

As a woman of 75% Dutch ethnicity who married a man of 100% Dutch ethnicity, I wanted to tell you that Arie’s last name is pronounced “LION-dike” and the Dutch are EXCELLENT kissers.
Not a fan anymore. Check Reality Steve’s timeline and Reddit. Sounds like Arie, along with the disaster of BIP and Rachel’s low rated season, could finally implode the franchise. I think they’re making a big mistake not going with Peter. Sounds like Arie might make Juan Pablo look like a saint.
OK I just have to comment to someone about the most hysterical scene ever on BIP. This is from memory, so I am sure I am getting the words wrong:
Amanda says to Robbie “you are so hot”, and he replies “thank you”, and she says, “no, you are really hot and sweaty!” I don’t know why that makes me laugh so hard, but I guess it sums up the craziness of the show.
On the Arie front, he has gotten a little grey (like Peter), and looks amazing. I heard him interviewed on GMA and he didn’t say “like” even once, so hopefully he continues that trend on the Bachelor. His constant use of “like” drove me crazy during Emily’s season.

Arie…saw a clip of him and Michael Strahan…. as Jed him what he wants in a woman….independent, strong and vulnerable…. Michael said you are good!! Arie has this quiet wisdom and strength that is very attractive. I’m in!!
Ugh – never been a fan. I don’t find him attractive and didn’t like how he was on the show. Very disappointing. 🙁 I honestly thought it was a joke!
Bless you for occasionally showing us the Arie and Emily video. It’s a treat to watch every time.
I look forward to watching Arie kiss many women next season on The Bachelor. That man should open a kissing school! Mmmmmm.
Your InstaStories from last night cracked me up! I’m kinda happy for Taylor & Derek. She was really emotional when he popped the question. I think she struggles with social skills (or making friends) based on what she said about going to a reunion, so she seemed genuinely moved to get engaged and that everyone seemed so supportive (and seemed to like her)!! Miss your recaps but can’t wait to listen to this podcast!
