Soundtrack of My Life: Happy Birthday Texas
Honor the Texas Flag. I pledge allegiance to thee: Texas, one and indivisible.
For those of you celebrating Texas Independence Day, enjoy this playlist as you pick bluebonnets and eat big bowls of chili. Watch out for armadillos today, and make sure to say “YEE HAW” when you ride your horse to work.
Feel free to share other Texas songs in the comment section. I’m always looking to expand my playlists!
You can’t forget “If It Wasn’t For Texas” by King George! One of my favorites of all time!
What about Amarillo By Morning!!! love that song!
During the 2 years that I didn’t live in Texas (I came back as quickly as I could!) I was partial to ‘Southbound 35’ by Pat Green. Especially since I-35 S was the road that I drove to get home!
Another good one (though it’s a completely different genre) is “Ohio (Come Back To Texas)” by Bowling For Soup. The lyrics are hilarious!
Come back to Texas
It’s just not the same since you went away
Before you lose your accent
And forget all about the Lone Star State
There’s a seat for you at the rodeo
And I’ve got every slow dance saved
Besides the Mexican food sux north of here anyway
Pat Green’s “Girls from Texas”, featuring Lyle Lovett!
Good list! I am now creating a Texas specific playlist on spotify. Why didn’t I already have one?!
I would add:
Texas Tornado- Tracy Lawrence
My Texas- Josh Abbott Band
Yellow Rose of Texas
Plus as an Aggie I would add the War Hymn and Spirit of Aggieland:)
“Hello, Texas!” By Jimmy Buffet, from the Urban Cowboy soundtrack. One of my faves.
“That’s Right, You’re Not From Texas” is an instant classic with my family. Got to love Lyle Lovett.
