A lot proud and a little ashamed
You people are AMAZING! As I write this post there are 62 fabulous comments on what music I should add to my iPod family. Way to go team! I’m so proud of your enthusiasm and great taste. Give yourself a pat on the back and feel free to take the rest of the day off!
There were so many good lists. As I suspected, I do already own the majority of your suggestions, but there were quite a few that stood out of the bunch.
The following are songs that I had to research before I remembered what they were. Once I listened to the :30 tease on iTunes, I fell in love all over again:
1. The Promise by When in Rome (thanks Emily)
2. Heart and Soul by T’Pau (I think the T’Pau through me off. Thanks Mindy)
These are the songs that made me hang my head in shame, IN SHAME, for not owning:
1. Toy Soldier by Martika (thanks Amy)
2. Xanadu by Olivia Newton Jon (thanks Michellyoh)
3. One More Try by Timmy T (thanks Sue)
4. Wicked Game [C’MON LINCEE] (thanks Lindsay)
5. Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler.
Ironically…I have the Dan Band version. (thanks Kristie)
And it seems that Ev (#15) and I are kindred spirits. She provided FOUR SONGS that are playing on repeat as we speak:
1. Take on Me by A-ha (I’m speechless I don’t have this one.)
2. Rock Me Amadeus by Falco (What the crap? This is a STAPLE.)
3. Life in a Northern Town by Dream Academy
4. Sail Away (Orinoco Flow) by Enya
Thanks to EVERYONE who participated. Love going down memory lane. It’s such a happy place, don’t you agree?
See you on the flip side. New York, New York…here I come!
Hey! I love reading your blog. My mom actually got me into it and now I just cant stop!
I thought you might be interested in blogging about this cool new website called http://www.taaz.com. Its an online digital makeover site that allows users to upload their pic (or a pic of a celebrity…or bachelor) and experiment with hairstyles and colors, makeup, eye color etc. Its easy to do really pretty makeovers or goofy and funny ones. Just thought you might find it useful! Keep up the great blogging!
OMG! I made the list!! Is it scary that I feel like I just met a celebrity? LOL!! Totally kidding! Have fun in NYC (I’m only a LOT jealous) and HAPPY LISTENING!!!
I just spent a good ten minutes scanning the list of comments and can’t believe that the following songs didn’t seem to appear:
Could’ve Been by Tiffany
Stay (I missed you) by Lisa Loeb
Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N Roses
More Than Words by Extreme
If I were on top of my game right now I could give you a much more thorough list, but this is a start.
What about “Faith” and “Freedom ’90” by George Michael? LOVE HIM!
Lincee,
Please let us know what shows you will see in NYC. I am going in few months and need a few suggestions
Casey so glad you mentioned “more than words” by Extreme – it is the best song of all times!
Ummm, hey Lincee, can I borrow some money? I just spent all my gas money on Itunes downloading a ridiculous amount of songs from the list. I’ll be looking for a check in the mail. Thanks.
Lincee,
I forgot Faithfully by Journey – one of my all-time faves!
adrienne- you must see Wicked and Legally Blonde the Musical. I know that Jersey Boys is all the rave but haven’t seen it so can’t say anything about that one. Loved, loved, loved Drowsy Chaperone.
How come nobody mentioned “Bette Davis Eyes” by Kim Carnes? That’s been on my I-Tunes for years…and quite possibly the best song ever (sadly, I’m only 30 and this is the best I can come up with!)
Lincee – here are a few others that are on my iPod: “Africa” by Toto, “Jack and Diane” by John Cougar Mellencamp, “Jessie’s Girl” by Rick Springfield, “Your Love” (aka “Josie’s on a vacation far a-a-wayyyyy”) by the Outfield, “Rio” by Duran Duran, and “I Ran” by Flock of Seagulls. Also – I just want to give a shout out to the person who suggested “Take on Me” by A-Ha. Easily the best song of the 80s!
Love “The Promise” by When in Rome, but last time I checked you couldn’t get it on Itunes without buying the Napolean Dynomite soundtrack 🙁
personally i like 80’s new wave
girls on film (duran duran)
der kommisar
99 red balloons
white wedding
the cult
also i love latin freestyle — lisa lia and cult jam, expose, the cover girls, etc
hey try pandora.com — type in one song you like and it creates a whole radio station based on just that song and it is scarily accurate!
More 80s and 90s stuff…
Come on Eileen – Dexy’s Midnight Runners
Centerfold – J. Geils Band
Save a Prayer – Duran Duran
Gold – Spandau Ballet
She’s A Beauty – The Tubes
