I don’t know. I just don’t know.
Rumor (and IMDB.com) has it that Hollywood is in the process of remaking Ice Castles.
Really? Really Hollywood? Do you think that you are ever going to be able to recreate a moment like this?
(Please pay no attention to the 70s attire and hair in the embedded clip.)
And where are you going to find a modern day Robby Benson, huh? Do you think they just grow on trees? A quick IMDB.com search tells me that this yahoo is going to play Robby’s role of Nick Peterson.
I mean, I guess I can see this working. Whatever. OK. He’s hot. But can he portray a lifetime of emotion in just one teary stare at Lexie? We shall see.
And Lord help me if you have Miley Cyrus or the Jonas Brothers cover the beautiful theme song that plays such an important role in the movie. I will NOT stand for that.
Are you guys with me? Or am I alone here?
Please do not put in the comment section that you’ve never seen this movie because you are 20-years-old. I just don’t have the stomach for that today. Go over to my New Moonpages and banter with the other TwiHeads about how cool and hip and totally awesome I am. Thanks.
I’m right there with you. I don’t know why they have to screw good older movies up by remaking them. Leave them in all of their glory!
Oh my heck, I loved that movie! They are totally going to mess it up if they try to remake if, even though that yahoo is hot.
I saw the preview on Julie and Julia. I was a little bummed! Robby Benson is the greatest! lol
As a young ice skater, I LOVED this movie…even though I was probably the only one of my friends to ever watch it. However, watching this clip has inspired my 2 year old daughter to take up ice skating. I am not worried about some schmo playing Nick, I just want to know who could possibly fill the shoes of Colleen Dewhurst. I mean, really, the lady whipped Anne of Green Gables into shape and then helped a blind girl ice skate!
There is no way a remake will ever be as good as the original.
Thank you for posting this clip Lincee! It was a nice treat at the end of my day!
Blasphemy. I’ll refuse to go see it.
All I can say is…Lincee, you make me laugh, you make me laugh!!!!
Lex! The flowers!
My sister and I loved to reenact all Ice Castles scenes on roller skates in the middle of the street. It was 70s greatness, let me tell you. I even had the precursor to the VCR: the photonovel of the film!
Oh, please, don’t let this feeling end…
Sigh. Oh, there is no modern equivalent of Melissa Manchester. And whatever happened to Lynn Holly Johnson?
PS: That Robby Benson wannabe is a chach.
Oh, hurl. Read this interview with the chick who landed the role of Lexie. I think she might be a chach. “It was supposed to be a TV movie…”.

Some thing CANNOT be remade, SHOULD not be remade.
I am soooooooooooooo with you. With that thought and the thought of Footloose redone…I am just falling apart———-and besides which, how am I old enough that there has been so much time since those movies that it would even be APPROPRIATE for any movie to be redone. A shanda (shame in Yiddish) such a shanda
Are there no creative minds left in Hollywood?? Where are the original screenplays? This is a travesty! Robby Benson – be still my aging heart!
I, ermmm….have never seen this movie. But I swear I’m 31!! The song does sound very familiar, though. I guess I should go rent it now…? I’m kind of dumbfounded on how I haven’t seen this movie, and how it completely escaped my attention. Then again, I just saw “Trading Places” with Eddie Murphy and Dan Ackroyd for the first time the other night, too. Apparently a lot movies have escaped my attention…
Hard to watch that clip without getting choked up….oh, the memories
PS – Here’s something worth noting – it’s directed by the same man who directed the original. So, there’s a chance it might be better than the original, but an even better chance that somehow in his misguided attempt to “modernize” it and one-up himself, it could all go spectacularly wrong.
I can’t think (off the top of my head) any director who has re-done his own movies to great success. Correct me if I’m wrong. Even when it’s different movies in the same genre (George Lucas, I’m talking to you!!!).
